    Formed in the early sixties in Te Atatu, West Auckland, New Zealand, the La De Das were known for their RnB styled raucous performances. They were signed to Zodiac but licensed to Philips for NZ release. Their debut album is a regarded as a garage rock classic and is hard to find.

    Mar 22,  · An interesting recording for its time. It has dated fairly poorly though and Adrian Rawlins' narration comes across sounding somewhat pretentious. It is probably better just listing to tracks 13 to 23 which is the album but without the narration. Unfortunately this CD release was ripped from a vinyl copy with very little,if any, restoration.4/5(2).

    Touring around the new LP, released in November , the La De Das enjoyed their most successful period to date, including supports for Elton John and Suzi Quatro on their Australian tours. The solid gigging continued through and into , including a well-received appearance at the final Sunbury Festival in January '

    The woman in the hootch next to mine in Viet Nam played this album night and day, so often that I began to think it was the only album she owned, so it was many years before the full splendor of Pearl revealed itself to me, and while it isn’t an album I play often, I am thankful for the space it holds in my collection. Pearl was the final evaluation of anything Janis would ever do.
